Chapter 158
Principal Zach Jackson, seeing his daughter so close to another boy, walked over with a smile. "Zoey, aren’t you going to introduce your friend to us?"
"Dad, this is Kevin, my classmate." Zoey said, blushing. "We don’t quite talk much."
"Oh, are you a student at our school?" Zach asked, looking at Kevin. Though he had seen Kevin a few times, he couldn’t remember all the students by name. Kevin’s grades were decent but could have been more outstanding, so he hadn’t left a strong impression on them.
"Hello, Principal Zach Jackson." Kevin said honestly, not feeling particularly nervous. Students usually feared their homeroom teachers and the disciplinary office more than the principal, who was more like a ceremonial figure.
"Oh, you’re Kevin. I remember now. Your compositions are quite good. Mrs. Cortez speaks highly of you," Zach said, showing interest. Though Kevin’s grades weren’t exceptional, his writing stood out, and he had won several school competitions. Zach valued English highly, especially composition, which was one of the few subjects in which his school excelled over others.
"It’s mainly because of Mrs. Cortez’s help. Kevin said humbly. He was telling the truth. Among the five homeroom teachers in his grade, Camila was the most experienced and particularly skilled in teaching composition.
"Good teachers and diligent students are both essential." Zach nodded, finding Kevin’s humility reassuring. He didn’t supervise Zoey closely but worried about her associating with unmotivated peers. Seeing that Kevin was her friend, he felt somewhat relieved.
"Have you all forgotten about me? Zoey, aren’t you going to introduce your friend to me?" Daisy Jones said, interrupting her husband’s conversation. She had been curious about Kevin since he had escorted Zoey home once and had wanted to meet him. Today she finally got the chance.
"Oh, I forgot. Mom, this is Kevin." Zoey said, her face red. "Kevin, this is my mom. Daisy Jones."
