Chapter 32: Messages
Adam returns to the restaurant to find it still closed. He parked his car right where he parked in the morning and entered the restaurant through the back door.
Walking in, he saw Ellie working in the kitchen, preparing for the evening service.
Ellie notices Adam’s arrival and stops whatever she is doing. "You are back already?" she questions. "Ya, I had nothing else to do, so I came back," Adam says. "Oh, okay, sorry that I can’t accompany you, I still have a lot to prepare for the evening service," Ellie says.
"Do you need any help?" Adam asks as he sees that Ellie is all alone. The other cooking staff seem to be nowhere around.
"Umm... do you have any experience in the kitchen?" Ellie asks. "I do have some," Adam says. "Great, why don’t you wash your hands and join me?" Ellie says.
Adam smiles and joins Ellie in the kitchen after he washes his hands. He begins helping Ellie prepare for the evening services.
Ellie watches Adam work around the kitchen and is surprised by his skill and efficiency. She didn’t expect Adam to be good at everything he does.
Of course, she didn’t know this was because of all the experience Adam accumulated working different minimum wage jobs.
"You know, I made a great decision hiring you. Not only are you good at the front of the house, you are even good back here," Ellie praises Adam.
"Then I should be rewarded for it, shouldn’t I?" Adam asks teasingly while smiling at Ellie with his signature heart-melting smile. Ellie blushes a little.
"Continue doing good work and you will be rewarded properly," Ellie says, and gets back to work.
