Chapter 22: Bringing Ruth Home
Adam drives his car into his mansion’s driveway and stops.
He turns his head to look at Ruth and smiles. "This is my house," He says.
Ruth looks at the mansion before her with shining eyes. It’s a modern style house you can see in any rich locality, but to Ruth, this type of house is something she could only dream of.
Compared to her house, the one before her is ten times bigger and prettier.
She sees a few expensive cars in the driveway that belong to Jack and Julia.
Adam gets out of the car and signals Ruth to join in; Ruth gets out of the car as well. Adam locks his car before taking Ruth’s hand and taking her into his house.
As soon as Ruth enters his house, she is mesmerized by everything she sees. Since everything in Adam’s house is an expensive painting or a sculpture, it looks extravagant, and to the eyes of a vain girl like Ruth, this is just what she pictured when she thought of rich people.
She always wanted to live in a house like this, but she was not lucky enough to be born in one. But tonight, she finally gets to see what her dream looks like in reality.
"Come on," Adam says and takes Ruth up the stairs.
She quietly follows Adam up the stairs while still looking around with fascination.
’This girl is impressed by just this,’ Adam thinks as the surrounding things, though expensive, are not that impressive.
