Chapter 180: Inspection
Arrangements for Prince Osbourne’s visit to the four other cities within the Crownlands had already been completed the day before. From the carriage he would ride, to the knights who would escort his entourage — everything was ready.
There was, however, a new addition that Caleb saw coming a mile away. Princess Celine had found out about the visit and Caleb’s inclusion. Not wanting to be separated from Caleb, the princess did the only thing she could to get on board — she used her puppy-dog eyes on her parents, specifically her mother.
King Gray himself folded on the first innocent look his daughter gave him, leaving the queen as the only one who had some kind of resistance to her daughter’s pleas. Even then, she failed miserably, folding under Celine’s charms.
"Hah... We need to build some form of resistance against your daughter, Alexander." The queen had stated once their daughter left their room that night. "She is getting a lot better at having her way. Who knew she had this side to her?"
Queen Anastasia was not very happy about her own shortcomings, but it couldn’t be helped. It was why she looked to her husband to take action. Unfortunately for her, her husband could only reveal a wry smile.
"Hah... We’re doomed," The queen immediately realised as soon as she saw her husband’s expression. "That girl will run circles around us for eternity. I’m sure she got this trait from you."
"Don’t stress too much, woman," King Gray chuckled slightly. "Also, why am I being blamed for her shenanigans?" This was the part he didn’t get.
Sure, due to Celine’s disorder, there were a lot of things she couldn’t do before. The princess had been the perfect girl who almost always stayed in her room. But now...
A moment later, King Gray’s expression turned serene as he stared at the door. "Celine hasn’t had the opportunity to step outside these walls. Let the girl explore the cities with her brother for once... I would choose this every day of the week."
"..."
The queen became silent as she fell into a bit of thought, knowing very well what her husband meant. ’At least there will be two capable men by her side.’
This thought brought a gentle smile to her serious face, an expression the king did not miss. He could tell what was going through the woman’s mind. After all, he had similar thoughts.
