Genesis Code: The Genetic Awakening

Chapter 114: Lead (1)

Caleb and Jess spent the last two days in the Duchess’ estate, which was now more of Caleb’s own home.

Silvia had instructed her household to treat Caleb as they would treat her, and while nothing was official, the duchess didn’t care if word got around.

The time spent getting to know each other better brought a new light into the duchess that her people hadn’t seen, if ever.

The Duchess was found smiling and daydreaming most of the time, barely able to do her job. And she wasn’t the only one. Jess was equally in high spirits after laying the first claim like she intended, solidifying her place as first.

Caleb, of course, didn’t leave the duchess as she was either. Now that Silvia was his woman, he couldn’t leave her weak and unprotected.

He awakened the duchess’s full potential, granting her abilities that would save her life in any situation, whether he was around or not.

The experience of the duchess and some things Caleb shared with her opened her eyes to many things. It made her understand how Caleb was able to do the things he was capable of.

The big question was how power like that came to him. The power to change a person’s fate was not something anyone could wield. Silvia was glad it was in the hands of someone who understood that power.

Anyone else would have abused it in ways that could turn the kingdom upside down. Caleb was literally in a place where there was nothing that could touch him, at least on this continent.

When it was time for Caleb and Jess to resume their journey and eventually return to the capital, the duchess gave Caleb everything he might need on his journey.

She also made him promise to come visit her more often, given the kind of abilities he had. The duchess was expecting more alone time with her man than even she thought. After all, she enjoyed her moments with Caleb.
