Chapter 92: Geneticist (1)
Kolga and Thorex ignored Caleb’s words, their eyes glued to his features. They no longer cared about the commanders or what the knights were even doing—they couldn’t afford to ignore his presence.
"Why is he here?" Thorex asked his comrade. "Those people should have no business here...At least not now."
"I’m not sure." Kolga replied with a frown. "He appeared in the capital out of nowhere. And from the little I experienced of his strength, this isn’t going to be easy. To take him down, we’ll have to go all out."
"Agreed."
"..."
Caleb’s senses picked up on their little conversation, deepening his confusion about what exactly they meant. While he could deduce a few things, he wondered why they thought he was such a person from wherever they were talking about.
The atmosphere around the demon generals changed as they stepped away from each other, one going to the left and the other to the right. They evaluated Caleb from head to toe, their apprehension towards him growing.
"Is there a reason you came to this place?" Thorex asked with sharp eyes. "The kings should be handling your lot." He added.
"I don’t know what you two are on about, but this is my hometown," Caleb replied calmly, his gaze switching between the two demons. "As for being here..." He looked over his shoulders, towards the location where the knights gathered.
"So you’re not from that place?"
Kolga asked, just to be sure. He and Thorex exchanged a glance, sharing a silent agreement on their next course of action.
