Chapter 59: Complications
BOOM...!!!
A large fireball struck a horde of monsters, incinerating those directly hit while the flaming shockwaves blasted the rest, leaving them to burn to death.
Yet the monsters kept coming. They were as relentless as they were numerous. Their eyes glowed a menacing red, their bloodlust palpable.
"Keep firing, don’t let up!" Captain Reeder, knight of the Luntheria Kingdom, shouted at the top of his lungs. "Close combatants, move in while the monsters are disoriented!"
The air was thick with the scent of blood, mingled with the sweat and tears of the knights. They had been fighting in this dungeon for hours now.
And from the looks of things, there seemed to be no end in sight to these monsters. Unlike the usual creatures they faced in dungeons, this one was different.
The monsters here were more bloodthirsty than usual and refused to stay on their assigned floors.
And the reason for all this was a demon that had infiltrated the dungeon, doing something unnatural to the creatures.
For weeks, the kingdom’s forces had tried to reach the final floor to deal with the demon, but the relentless waves of monsters wouldn’t let up.
The demon had done something to the dungeon—a Tier 5 dungeon, no less. The chaos it unleashed had the kingdom’s rulers on edge.
The kingdom couldn’t spare too many men here, as they had to safeguard the borders and shores against demons seeking to break into the mainland.
