Chapter 1802: Snuck in
[The Mansion]
Beep...
Slater pressed the side button hard, ensuring his device was completely silent. As soon as he did, he looked around the place he was in. Currently, he was in the mansion’s south wing, where a vast lawn featured multiple smaller buildings, such as a glass house, a few bungalows, and the entrance to the garden.
He stayed in the darker part, in the corner of the residence. Once he was sure no one was around, he checked the new incoming message from the very small device in his hand.
It read:
[Somewhere in the mansion, near the wine cellars of the main residence, there are hostages — imprisoned members of the Shadow Order. Please help them.]
Slater arched a brow and narrowed his eyes suspiciously.
’This isn’t how Penny would message me.’
A sudden spike of panic thudded in his chest, thinking that Penny was in trouble. But then, another message came.
[Miss Penny handed us the device as she was busy tending to her brother, Hugo, and the woman, Mint. She’s also recovering communication with the other teams. I am a member of the Shadow Order, Ralph.]
Slater read that a second time, his mind debating whether he should believe it or not. But knowing Penny and how she had already gotten to know the Madam of the Shadow Order, this wasn’t impossible.
Hence, he replied quickly and tucked the device into his "uniform." After all, Slater had gotten in here by taking down a few members on duty, changing into their clothes, and then messing his hair until most of it was reaching past his brows and near his eyes.
