Chapter 1699: We’ll be having visitors soon.
"The whys aren’t the only questions now—but rather... Zoren, you need to remember what you did. Because you’re the only person in here who actually knows the why, the how, the what, and the who."
Silence fell on them as the couple—Zoren and Penny—stared at Finn, while the latter mirrored their gaze. They didn’t let the information laid out affect them outwardly, but even so, they let it sink in.
"That’s... that’s impossible," Penny remarked. "How could Renren remember the past? Try to kill him?"
Finn shrugged. "I don’t know, but at this point, I’m getting very impatient as well. Because even if I worked closely with him, I felt like I was just as in the dark as everyone else."
Zoren kept his mouth pressed into a thin line, lowering his gaze as he thought about it.
"All I know is Jonathan’s rage isn’t justified, but there’s a reason. A reason only he could answer—if he weren’t stabbed to death. Or you, Zoren," Finn continued solemnly. "But then again, it’s almost impossible to regain memories from the past."
A brief, conflicted look flickered in Finn’s eyes. They had long suspected that Zoren was just like them. But that theory had been shut down by the fact that someone—or something—likely changed the course of history in the Pierson Family’s timeline.
After all, Finn knew Naylani Pierson. He had met her in his previous life. But in this lifetime, Naylani was dead.
"There’s..." Zoren spoke, his voice low, lifting his head to meet Finn’s, and then Penny’s. "There’s a chance."
"Renren—"
"I told you about the hypnosis," he said. "I can try that again."
Penny frowned, more concerned than upset. "Renren, the last time you did that, you almost relapsed. You couldn’t even sleep properly back then, and your health—you’re still recovering."
