Chapter 1520: You saved me! and him
Since entering the highway, Penny had noticed a motorcycle speeding through the other lane. She didn’t dwell on it as she was in the middle of singing for Jonathan. But as they went back and forth, the same rider, who had already driven past them earlier, was now tailing them.
The motorcycle’s headlights were on high, reflecting off Jonathan’s side mirror. When the rider picked up speed, all the alarm bells in her head went off.
Without thinking twice, Penny pulled down a lever, saving both herself and Jonathan from impending doom.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Penny’s sudden action caught Jonathan off guard, but before he could react, three gunshots rang out. The sound was followed by the shattering of his window, glass flying inward, and some shards embedding into his skin.
"Ahh!" Jonathan shielded himself with his arm, his thumb barely clinging to the steering wheel. But with the sudden turn of events, their car started swerving into the other lane.
The screech of the tires rang in their ears painfully, prompting Jonathan to get a hold of himself. Otherwise, they might’ve survived the assault but died in a crash.
Penny kept her eyes narrowed, her teeth clenched. Since pulling Jonathan back, her legs were stuck. She peeked and saw that all of Jonathan’s window was gone.
"You..." she breathed out through clenched teeth. "... Are you dumb?! How could you not get this thing bulletproofed, considering you’re of Satan’s descent?!"
"Shut up!" he barked, nearly biting his tongue as their car screeched once. "Fuck!"
Out of panic, Jonathan gripped the steering wheel to regain control. Still leaning back and unable to see the road, he swerved into the other lane slightly.
"I can’t see!" he roared, tempted to sit up and check if he was in the right lane, or if there was a car ahead that they might crash into.
