Penny’s best bet for the enemy’s benefit after Global Prime Logistics’ downfall was that they had used Miller’s Company to rise in the industry. The details were unclear, but Penny was sure of it.
Miller’s Company had taken charge of some ports previously under the Bennet Family’s control.
If the enemy was behind it, they could have shipped — or rather, smuggled — a lot of things in and out of Anteca.
But this orphanage?
What would they gain by framing Cassandra?
It was a question Penny had in mind all night, keeping her awake until late. She’d been wracking her brain, but to no avail. All she got were some added eye bags.
Hayley, Teddy, Shawn, and Patricia looked at Penny with curiosity. She was standing by the entrance of their department, the bags under her eyes darker than usual, her complexion a little pale, and overall, she looked a bit haggard.
Working in this office had given them glimpses of different sides of Penny in various outfits. After all, Penny didn’t just come into the office in smart casuals. There were days she wore simple shirts and jeans and other times, skirts and girly attire. Perks of having a room in the building.
But today was the first time they’d seen her in what they could only call "zombie mode."
"Uh, Miss Penny?" Teddy cautiously approached, eyeing her with curiosity. "Is everything alright?"
Penny blinked and looked back at him. "Huh?"
She looked away, only to see the other three approaching with the same concern and confusion in their eyes.
