Chapter 1109: A fellow broke
"Tch." Slater clicked his tongue, watching Benjamin and James scurry away to go back to the shop where they left Ray. "They didn’t have to; that guy isn’t needed anywhere. Why is he even here?"
After leaving the restaurant and parting with everyone, Slater’s group stopped by a souvenir shop. Slater wanted to buy a souvenir, which he couldn’t buy earlier with Penny around. But then, Ray told them that he would just take a bathroom break.
They forgot about him when Slater finished buying some things.
"Tsk." Not thinking about it anymore, he shook his head and flashed the vendor a smile. "I’ll take the hair clip."
Since Slater had held off on buying souvenirs earlier, he took this opportunity to shop in the night market. The reason for this was that there was only one person he wanted to buy souvenirs for, and that was Penny. But since Penny was on this trip and it was unlikely she would go to the night market, he thought of checking the things she already bought and then buying the things she hadn’t.
A perfect plan.
’I’m sure she’d be happy that she isn’t missing anything from this trip,’he mentally giggled, imagining how Penny would shower him with praise. ’Second Brother doesn’t have the money to buy her anything, and First Brother is just too heartless to appreciate anything.’
So, in a way, Slater was certain he would rise in the brother ranks after this trip.
The mere thought of it filled him with excitement and motivation. He could already imagine his sister fawning over him, crying as she thanked him. Besides, he also wanted to buy something for his mother and Old Mrs. Pierson.
"Hihihi." Slater giggled happily, going to another stall to check out what they had in store. The next stall sold almost the same things as the previous one. Even so, he didn’t lose heart and checked the items carefully.
Eventually, something caught his eye.
"Huh?" Slater stopped, facing the stall. He blinked a few times, staring at the frog keychain before him. "That is..."
