Chapter 715: Z
[PRESENT TIME]
Zoren was only a possible threat, but after a long observation, Slater could relax for a bit. Zoren wasn’t a threat—he could be if he remembered how things went down in the previous life. He was the least of Slater’s concerns... for now.
Despite other concerns, Slater was more worried about the current situation.
"I thought it wouldn’t happen because Penny’s already on it, and she’s not poking her nose into the company much," he whispered, sighing as he glanced at the phone. "But I guess... even with the second life, First Brother’s disposition makes him the big shot in all of this."
With the largest connections in the ports of Anteca, Atlas was surely a catch for those wanting to enter through it. Although the majority of ports in Anteca were publicly owned, Global Prime Logistics was trusted to operate in all port terminals, and it wouldn’t be a stretch to say Atlas had significant control over them. Currently, Atlas was handling a large portion of the exports and imports.
In their first life, that was the main reason the Bennet Family got tangled up in it all. It could’ve stopped if Penny had been locked up and punished. But people from outside prison, including Atlas and Zoren, started digging into it.
"Zoren Pierson," Slater whispered. "He’s the one who blew everything out of proportion. I still don’t know if I should be grateful to him or not."
Another deep sigh escaped Slater as he thought of the past. However, he hadn’t been present for most of it because he had been held captive.
"I’m having a headache," he hissed, snapping his attention back to the phone in his hand. "Gee, what does he want now?"
Clicking his tongue, Slater pressed the call button on the contact labeled Z and held the phone to his ear. It rang only a few times before being picked up, followed by the voice of a woman.
"Hello?"
"..." Slater scrunched up his nose at the greeting, glancing at his phone in dismay. "What?"
