Chapter 627: Take care of yourself
Penny watched Lily cry while her parents consoled her. They scolded her mildly, telling Lily that they had always sensed Aiden was bad news. Unsurprisingly, Lily simply cried more, promising them she would listen to them more.
From what Penny gathered from this exchange, Lily’s parents had been against Aiden from the beginning. However, instead of risking losing their only child because they couldn’t accept her choice in a partner, they eventually gave in. It took a lot for Lily to realize that the man she chose was that kind of person.
The drama continued until Lily’s parents suggested that Penny should rest. Ginnie was also injured, and although her injuries were mild, they decided to admit all the girls for the night. Another round of thanks and gratitude ensued, as the parents couldn’t thank Penny enough before they finally left the ward.
"Good night," Penny smiled as they looked back at her from the door, waving. They smiled back at her before finally shutting it.
The second the door closed, Penny’s smile stiffened. Her friends and Lily’s parents hadn’t paid attention to the other people in the ward, but Penny would never ignore them — not when both Zoren and Hugo were being so quiet, but the tension radiating from them was so obvious.
"Hehe." An awkward laugh escaped her as she looked at the couch where her husband and second brother were sitting. "Hi?"
Slowly, Zoren and Hugo blinked while keeping their gaze on her. Zoren didn’t move or say anything, but Hugo pushed himself up and marched in her direction. When he stopped a step away from her, he opened his mouth, but no words came out.
"You..." Hugo ruffled his hair in irritation, closing his eyes. He didn’t know where to start. Should he scold her for being so reckless and bold? Or should he tell her she would be fine? To be honest, he didn’t know which was best — it was frustrating.
"First Brother is coming here," he said with a deep huff, snapping his eyes at Penny. He pointed a finger at her, searching his heart for the right way to tell her. "You’re dead."
Her face stiffened, and she scrunched up her nose. ’Should I be scared of that?’
