Chapter 65: A foolish dream
Chapter 65 – A Foolish Dream
Time was running out—faster than she’d imagined, faster than she’d mentally prepared for. Amanda paced in circles inside the hotel suite, her breath coming out in short pants, chest tightening with the anxiety rushing through her veins.
The time was ticking.
Her stay at the hotel was nearing its end, and the worst part of it all—Aaron had moved out. Yes, he moved out of the hotel without informing her, without a word, without even the decency of a note.
Amanda’s heels clicked against the tiled floor as she slammed the empty glass on the counter, a scowl marring her face. She’d stalked him the first night he left, followed him in a cab until she spotted the gated compound that swallowed him whole. He had moved into a private house.
And she had returned to the hotel with a flicker of denial still burning inside her, thinking it was temporary, that Aaron would come back for her, and they would move in together.
But he hadn’t come back. No message, no call. So cruel to her.
Thinking that Aaron would change for her was just a willful dream of hers.
Her hope—what a cruel joke it had become. Again—A foolish dream.
Amanda bit her nails in panic until the flesh underneath stung. Her heart was erratic with unevenness.
This wasn’t how things were supposed to be! Brenda had promised to handle it. Brenda had said she would do something. But all Amanda could see was that nothing had changed.
