Chapter 57: New house
Chapter 57
Aaron leaned back in the driver’s seat, one hand loosely on the steering wheel, the other resting on his lap as he watched the twins through the rearview mirror. Jasmine was humming a random song under her breath, swinging her feet in the air, while Hanith clutched his sketchpad on his lap like it was the most important thing in the world.
He swallowed a breath and shot them a smile. "Alright, chumps. Ready for a little surprise?"
Jasmine’s head tilted immediately, her eyes lit up in excitement. "A surprise? What kind?"
"You’ll see." Aaron chuckled and winked, starting the car. "But I hope you’re ready to scream."
Jasmine gasped, her hands flew to her mouth. "Is it scary?!" Her eyes widened.
"No." He shook his head. "Good scream," he corrected with a grin.
The drive wasn’t long, but the kids’ curiosity made every minute stretch as they glanced through the window happily while Aaron said nothing, still grinning. He just let the anticipation build as he stared at their eyes taking in everything. When he finally pulled into a quiet, private street, he parked in front of a newly built building with a beautiful exterior, soft lights lining the walkway, and glass doors reflecting the afternoon sky.
The twins stepped out of the car cautiously, eyes darting around.
"Where are we?" Jasmine asked slowly, clutching Hanith’s hand.
Aaron bent down to their level and gestured toward the entrance. "This," he said, "is Daddy’s new home." He was proud of himself. He had been planning this private building for days. Now it was complete, and here he was with his family.
