Chapter 49: Not ours. My Katherine
Chapter 49
"My man," Aaron’s friend—Raymond—patted Aaron’s shoulder before slumping into the seat beside him. "Why are you down?" Raymond asked, signaling to the bartender to give him a recommendation.
Aaron exhaled tiredly, not even giving his friend a glance as he swung his glass and took a sip. "Katherine." The name fell from his lips like a longing prayer.
"Katherine?" Raymond uttered in shock, grabbing Aaron by his shoulders to look at him. "You mean that Katherine—our Katherine—?"
Aaron glared at Raymond. "Not ours. My Katherine," he bit out, and his friend raised his hands in surrender.
"Sorry," Raymond said sheepishly. "But both of you together?" he asked. "How, why and when did it happen?"
Aaron rolled his eyes, he didn’t know why he entertained Raymond’s invite when he told him he was in the city. Now his head was banging from the questions Raymond was bombarding him with. Raymond was his only friend after Katherine. He met Raymond in the hospital years ago when he had an accident and since then they have became friends.
"Slowly," he muttered, rubbing the side of his forehead. "We aren’t back together—yet, but," he sighed, "we were doing well these past weeks, but some days ago she started avoiding me," he rambled out. "Do you think I’ve done something wrong?"
"And here I thought you were enjoying your vacation with your lovely wife?" Raymond joked, making Aaron scowl, not finding it funny.
"That bitch isn’t my wife." He slammed his glass on the counter.
"Just joking."
