Chapter 37: Privacy
As soon as Gareth entered his house, his Beta greeted him, holding three sleek black boxes.
“These just came for Isabella,” his Beta said. “They are different sets of jewelry for her to choose from for the wedding. Originally, the company wanted to deliver them to the post office this morning, but I changed it to be sent here since the pieces are so expensive.”
“Thank you,” Gareth replied and set down his briefcase on the entry room table. “I noticed her car in the driveway. I’ll bring them to her room for her to look over.” He held out his hand for the boxes.
“Are you sure? I can do it,” his Beta offered.
“It’s no problem,” Gareth dismissed him. “I want to say hello to her anyway.”
He grabbed the boxes and went up his staircase. Gareth did want to say hello to his daughter, but he was also using this as an excuse not to run into Jasmine. He knew that she was here when he walked into his house and was struck with her enticing, sweet scent. Ironically, Jasmine smelled like her namesake. He chastised himself as he nodded hello to Butler Jones, who he passed in the hallway.
He was a grown man avoiding his daughter’s tutor. Why was dignity always missing when Jasmine was concerned?
At Isabella’s door, he knocked and waited a moment. With his hand on the door handle, he sighed. His oldest daughter always listened to her music with her headphones. There had been many times when he’d been stuck waiting outside her door because she hadn’t heard him knocking.
Knowing that she would lock the door if she needed privacy, Gareth swung the door open.
