Ye Guihua didn’t know what Chen Wenyu was thinking. When she heard her calling her ’Auntie’, Ye Guihua was stunned. She wondered, just now she was calling her ’Mom’ on the phone, why did she change to ’Auntie’ in front of her son? Could it be that she wanted to marry Guotao, but he hadn’t decided yet, so she wanted to use her as an elder to help her out?
Thinking about this, Ye Guihua’s heart sank. She felt that this girl was quite scheming, and her impression of her dropped several points again. But, no matter what, Chen Wenyu was entangled with her son, and now that she said she was in pain, out of politeness, Ye Guihua had to show concern. So she asked, "Where does it hurt? "No, Auntie, you should sit. I just have a broken finger, fortunately, the baby in my belly is fine." Chen Wenyu wiped the tears off her face and forced a sweet smile, but in the eyes of Ye Guihua and Song Guotao, it was especially irritating.
Why?
Because this obviously suggestive remark seemed to fear that Ye Guihua wouldn’t know she was pregnant! It was quite grating for both mother and son to hear, and they felt a bit of resentment.
However, the reasons for Song Guotao and Ye Guihua’s dislike of Chen Wenyu were very different due to their vastly different values. Song Guotao felt repelled, firstly because he had hardly any feelings left for Chen Wenyu, let alone love, not even liking; and secondly, he didn’t want Chen Wenyu to keep the baby, as he felt he didn’t lack women willing to bear his child. More importantly, the baby in her belly was a major obstacle to his reconciliation with Mi Wan.
As for Ye Guihua, her aversion was mainly because Chen Wenyu was the third party who ruined her son’s marriage with Mi Wan. She already had a pre-existing dislike, and seeing Chen Wenyu in person, she found her even less comparable to Mi Wan in terms of temperament, appearance, and conduct. Moreover, being unmarried and pregnant was not something to be proud of, especially when the child she was carrying was from a married man. Under these circumstances, instead of feeling any shame, she was proudly talking about her pregnancy, which Ye Guihua’s traditional and simple values couldn’t accept and acknowledge.
