Once Yukio felt Roland’s movements had settled into a more moderate rhythm, she finally addressed her best friend with a semblance of composure: "Who said we broke up with Roland? Haruno’s ’breakup’ was just a ploy to elevate Yuki’s position. Roland is still our family’s man. You think you can transfer him to the Kasumi family without asking for my permission? Over my dead body!"
"What? So you never intended to dump Roland? Why didn’t you say so earlier? If you had, I would have turned down Kasumi’s offer!" Roland’s mother retorted, as if blaming Yukio for the delay.
"How could I have said anything? I never even told you about Haruno’s ’breakup’! How did even you find out?"
"Well~, if Roland didn’t break up with Haruno, I can’t give Kasumi an answer. So, let’s just say they’ve broken up, okay~?"
"Huh?! Say that again!" Yukio snapped, her anger rising. Was her best friend really not joking?
"Well~, that’s not the point anymore. The point is I’ve already promised Kasumi. What do you think we should do now?" Roland’s mother shrugged.
"What else? Reject her!"
"That won’t work. You should have seen how fiercely Kasumi came at me. If I’d refused, I’d be in a real bind."
"So you’re making us sacrifice? Let me tell you, Haruno has already been intimate with Roland. I absolutely won’t let him be snatched away!"
"But they’ve already broken up~."
"Breaking up doesn’t mean they have to separate. I can arrange for both of my daughters to marry Roland. Can the Kaur family do that?"
"I see... That does make things tricky. How about this? Let Yuki or Haruno and Karena attend the matchmaking event. Then, a month later, our Roland can decide which one he chooses. What do you think~?"
