Chapter 11 - 10: The Bath Towel—Greatest Invention of the Century
Haruno had always believed her mother to be a woman of strong principles and boundaries, which was why she felt comfortable letting the two of them dote on each other in the living room.
After all, while Haruno often exaggerated her mother and Roland’s behavior, they had never done anything more than hug or some cuddling.
Her mother had been holding Roland since he was a baby, and Haruno had grown accustomed to it. She didn’t find it particularly inappropriate, simply assuming her mother was excessively fond of him.
Her mother was a mature adult, after all. Wanting to spoil Roland was one thing, but she wouldn’t cross the line into anything truly improper.
Haruno trusted that her mother knew exactly how far she could go and which boundaries she must never cross—she didn’t need to remind her.
That was what Haruno had genuinely believed, until she saw her mother, her clothes disheveled, collapsing onto the sofa with Roland in her arms. With that final act, her last shred of trust was shattered by her own mother’s hands.
How utterly shameless! Haruno thought. If I don’t intervened, would they have spent the night on the sofa still cuddling like dogs in heat?
"Look at the f*cking time! Are we even having dinner? You might not be hungry, but I am!"
Fueled by anger, Haruno finally couldn’t contain her anger against her mother. She slammed her bedroom door shut, the violent sound echoing her displeasure.
The move worked instantly. With a loud BANG!!, the sweet bubble of forbidden intimacy burst between the two in the living room, bringing back to earth.
Surprisingly, Yukio showed no resentment or guilt at the interruption from her daughter. Instead, she glanced at her daughter’s room with amusement. This must be the first time Haruno has ever expressed such clear dissatisfaction with me, she thought.
