Chapter 557 - 540: All Slaughtered
Regardless of whether their actions were legal or harmonious, in an era where heroism was defined by brute strength, they were all heroes, men of towering stature, each with a distinct portrayal of heroism in the eyes of their beholders. Being a hero wasn’t just about saving a drowning child or performing any other single act. The members of the Heavenly Reversal Gang before them were just as much heroes.
"Kill!" Zhang Lang and Hong Kai exchanged a few blows. Unable to match his opponent’s strength, Zhang Lang’s left hand was severed. He knew he was bound to fall here today. Thinking it better to face the end resolutely, Zhang Lang gritted his teeth, his right hand weakening, trembling as he gripped the machete—and then charged toward Hong Kai.
"My God, they are still fighting? Do they not want to live?" the onlookers couldn’t help but shiver.
"Heh, they are resolved to die!" another person added.
Clenching the machete tightly, Zhang Lang then fiercely lunged forward. Hong Kai watched disdainfully and sneered, "You are courting death!"
Immediately after, Hong Kai’s blade swiftly struck Zhang Lang’s shoulder, severing an artery. Blood gushed out like a fountain. Zhang Lang revealed a sinister smile and viciously slashed his machete toward Hong Kai’s abdomen.
With a gory splatter...
Blood flowed profusely; both men were critically wounded. However, it was clear Zhang Lang was at his end. Clenching his teeth against the acute pain, Hong Kai raised his machete and decapitated Zhang Lang, eliciting a gasp of astonishment from the crowd. People, terrified, wet themselves and scrambled away. Such cruelty, such a bloody scene terrified them to death.
"Kill them all!" Covering his wound, Hong Kai, in a fit of anger, issued the most foolish order of his life. Then, his underlings sprang into action. In moments, over fifty members of the Heavenly Reversal Gang lay dead. The bridge was transformed into a sea of blood with corpses strewn all about.
A dirge began to play as the fifty-plus corpses of the Heavenly Reversal Gang lay across the bridge. Hong Kai furiously ordered, "Clean this up, let’s go."
Soon, several trucks loaded up the corpses and Hongmen’s underlings, swiftly departing. The blood stains on the ground were evidence of the gruesome battle that had just occurred, causing endless casualties, accompanied by waves of mournful music. Crows flew in, perched on the bridge piers, looked around, and then swooped down to snatch up chunks of flesh before flying away. Soon, a large flock of crows arrived, with plenty of flesh and small organs, like fingers, scattered across the ground.
"How brutal!" a passerby shivered.
