Chapter 1659 - 1645
Feng Luo waved her fist at Chu Ge, snorted angrily, turned her head, and strode away.
Chu Ge coughed lightly, touched his nose, then looked back in the direction of the teahouse, frowned slightly, and then turned to follow quickly.
Feng Luo adjusted her emotions, took a while to regain her composure, turned her head to look at Chu Ge, and said grumpily, "You’re not allowed to tell Luo Qi about what just happened, hear me?"
Chu Ge looked at her puzzled, asking, "Why can’t I tell?"
"I said you can’t tell, so you can’t tell. Why are there so many questions?"
Feng Luo was annoyed by his questions, waved her hand, and strode forward, clearly not wanting to walk side by side with Chu Ge.
A big guy, even more fussy than a girl, Feng Luo couldn’t help but complain internally.
The more Feng Luo acted like this, the more Chu Ge felt there was something between them, but he wasn’t overly curious, so he didn’t really care about what was between them.
Instead, he was hesitating in his mind, debating whether to tell Feng Luo about the Vermilion Bird Star, unsure how to bring it up.
After hesitating repeatedly, he ultimately decided not to mention it; it wasn’t his place to say. He felt it should be Luo Qi who tells Feng Luo about it.
Thinking this way relieved him considerably, and seeing the increasing distance between them, he hurried to catch up.
"If we can’t drink here, then we’ll find another place to drink."
Chu Ge wanted to comfort her, but didn’t know how to express it, reluctantly saying that.
Feng Luo turned her head with a "humph", "I certainly know to drink elsewhere, don’t worry, I won’t let you off easily. Finally, I have the chance to give you a hard time, so I don’t want to let it go so easily."
She slightly tilted her chin, looking at Chu Ge provocatively, and Chu Ge knew she’d returned to normal.
Admiring her quick and strong ability to adjust herself, he smiled, saying, "I knew you were still thinking about my fifty taels of silver."
The fifty taels of silver really didn’t mean much to Feng Luo; it was just that with the silver in Chu Ge’s pocket, she felt something was missing if she didn’t spend some.
Feng Luo pointed to a tavern not far ahead and said, "We’re not going to drink tea anymore, we’ll switch to drinking wine!"
Chu Ge raised an eyebrow, "Didn’t expect someone as young as you would drink wine too?"
Feng Luo lifted her eyes proudly, "Of course, there are many things you don’t know about me. Discover them slowly."
Chu Ge was a bit amused and tearful, fearing there wouldn’t be a chance later on, as he’d soon be leaving here.
Suddenly, he thought of a question, looked deeply at Feng Luo’s back, and couldn’t help stepping forward to ask, "Miss Feng Luo, I have something to ask you."
"Since when did you become so dilly-dally? Just ask whatever it is."
Feng Luo said casually.
"Have you ever thought about returning to your own time and space?"
Chu Ge regretted the question as soon as he asked it, knowing it was somewhat inappropriate.
But words spoken are heard, just like water thrown out, which can’t be taken back.
Feng Luo looked at him puzzled, "Why suddenly ask this question?"
Chu Ge chuckled, "No reason, just suddenly curious."
He raised his hand to touch his nose, hiding his embarrassment, "I was just a bit curious. You know my purpose in coming to Shuo State is to find a way back. If I really find it, would you return with me?"
Feng Luo was stunned. It was a question she thought about when she first came to this time; she even searched for a way back, but it was all in vain.
Gradually, she got used to life here. Though it was a beggar’s den, they were inherently kind without much scheming.
Moreover, she had been in this time for more than ten years now; going back? Could she still adjust to the fast pace of modern life?
Feng Luo fell silent, not answering Chu Ge’s question, and Chu Ge knew it couldn’t be answered right away, so he didn’t press further.
They silently walked to the tavern’s entrance, where the waiter was greeting guests. Seeing Feng Luo approaching, he immediately stepped up, "Miss Feng Luo, you’re here, this way please."
This tavern was one Feng Luo frequented, making her a regular here, so the waiter knew her, and similar incidents like the teahouse wouldn’t happen here.
Feng Luo suddenly stopped at the entrance, lifted her eyes to look at the tavern, took a deep breath, "Forget it, I’ve lost my appetite, not eating."
Her tone was a bit downcast; she turned and headed towards the Old Mansion.
The waiter looked confused as she left and glanced at Chu Ge, uncertain if he’d said something wrong.
Chu Ge didn’t know what was wrong with Feng Luo either. He nodded apologetically to the waiter and followed, "Miss Feng Luo, didn’t you say you wanted to give me a hard time? Why suddenly not eating?"
Feng Luo abruptly stopped, turned, glaring at Chu Ge, "It’s all your fault!"
Chu Ge looked innocent, "Me?"
"Stop talking! I’m annoyed just seeing you now!"
Feng Luo yelled, about to walk away, yet suddenly remembering something, paused, turned, glaring at Chu Ge, "Don’t follow me! No! You mustn’t follow me!"
"..." Chu Ge was more bewildered; he hadn’t just said anything, right? Was it because of his question? Making her annoyed?
But isn’t this overly sensitive? Getting upset over one question?
Feng Luo was indeed upset by his question. Although she appeared joyful and carefree to outsiders, like a lively ghost, only in the quiet of night would she look at the night sky, feeling longing.
She had relived ten-plus years and was still a teenager now, but mentally she was nearly a forty-year-old woman, and her parents were already in their sixties.
She didn’t know how they’d react when she appeared before them in this form.
Nor did she know how they’d handle seeing a teenage girl claiming to be their daughter missing for over a decade.
Feng Luo’s thoughts were chaotic; she didn’t want to dwell on Chu Ge’s question, but gradually didn’t dare to consider it.
Either outcome was cruel to her.
The more Feng Luo dwelled on it, the worse she felt. She stamped her foot in anger, swearing in frustration, "Damn Chu Ge! Talking about useless things! I curse you, curse you!"
