Chapter 45- this was ridiculous
The man outside looked fresh and put together, clearly up and ready early in the morning — a sharp contrast to Lilian’s sleepy, half-awake state.
Lilian was annoyed. She had no idea how he managed to get up so early when she herself always wished she could sleep just one more minute each morning.
She opened the door, expecting him to scold her for being slow, but to her surprise, he didn’t even glance at her. He just walked in with a cold indifference, as if he was simply here to escort her to work, nothing more.
Lilian quietly closed the door behind him and turned around. One stood by the entrance hallway, the other near the living room sofa. For a long moment, neither spoke.
Lilian tried to lower her gaze and slip away, but Morrison’s voice cut through with a hint of disdain:
"Why aren’t you up yet?"
Already annoyed from being woken up so early, Lilian snapped back,
"Why should I get up this early?"
MOS Corp started at 8:30 a.m. She drove, which took about twenty minutes, and since she didn’t have to prepare breakfast or spend ages on makeup — usually just milk, some bread or cereal for breakfast, and a quick, fresh makeup look — she could get ready in half an hour. So normally, she’d wake around 7:20 or 7:30.
But now? It was only just past 6:30.
How could she not be furious?
Worse, she’d barely slept last night. Every time she closed her eyes, she smelled his smoke or thought of moments with him, tossing and turning all night.
