Chapter 113: Baron’s perils
The baron stood outside the house, watching carefully and waiting to see what would happen. He was certain that a hundred would be enough to at least stop four people.
But nothing could have prepared his mind for what happened next. A large root tore through the roof of the house, and on it were the four people that he wanted dead.
He locked eyes with Aric for a brief moment before the root started moving through the ground and heading out of the compound.
The militants started attacking the base of the root, wanting to cut it down, but the root was far too thick for them to cut through.
"Hey Baron Fredrick, this means we are officially at war, right?" Aric yelled out his question with a smile as they moved.
He wanted to come to this place in order to get materials for his village. He didn’t want to depend on the system for everything, but now all that had changed because the baron had to be greedy and double-cross him.
The baron felt fear as he watched them leave. He didn’t want this because he knew how much of a threat Aric was, and if he couldn’t kill him now, then it would be a knife at his neck constantly. But from the look of things, he won’t be able to stop Aric.
"There’s no choice. I have to tell everything to the count and have him relay this. The kingdom has a new threat," Fredrick said. He curled his fist in anger, grinding his teeth.
He looked at his home that had now been run through—the explosion, the roots, they had all destroyed the house. He walked to it and saw blood seeping down from under the door, staining his feet.
He stared at the blood for a few seconds, a look of disgust and anger cast over his face. He opened the door slowly. The smell of blood and raw flesh filled his nose immediately. Inside, there was a complete massacre—a hundred men dead on the floor.
