Chapter 118: Tempt Him
[ At Lanny’s Condo Unit... ]
Lanny and Enzo returned home together. He was grateful to Lanny and Vladimir for allowing him to work at Goddess Elixirs Cafe.
"How’s your first day? Are you tired?" Lanny asked as they entered the kitchen. The two decided to cook dinner.
Enzo shook his head, smiling broadly. "No. I’m not. Working there is very stress-free. The working environment is welcoming. I felt a little bit embarrassed because my colleagues seemed like they were covering for me. They didn’t allow me to handle the difficult task. They told me just to observe them and learn."
Lanny giggled softly. She could somehow sense that Vladimir had something to do with the good treatment Enzo had received from his colleagues.
’Thanks to my brother Enzo got an easy life on his first day of duty.’ Lanny smiled inwardly.
But her smile soon disappeared when Enzo’s phone rang. She caught a glimpse of the word "Sweetheart" on his phone screen.
"Hello, Sweety!" Enzo’s excited voice echoed inside the kitchen.
He simply glanced at Lanny, excusing himself for a moment.
Lanny could only nod, forcing a smile. She couldn’t deny that her mood turned gloomy after seeing how excited Enzo was when he talked to Alice over the phone.
"I miss you!" Those were the last words she heard from Enzo before he disappeared from her sight.
"He missed Alice..." Lanny mumbled with a sullen look on her face.
