Chapter 86: Dilemma
Athena stared at Dominique intently, waiting for his reply. She was in a rush to put a label on their current relationship. She wouldn’t let him take advantage of her. This was a big gamble for her with lots of sacrifices.
Meanwhile, Dominique remained tight-lipped, unable to respond to Athena’s demand. Her words made him return to his senses. As he struggled to find the right words to say, he took his coat, covering Athena’s exposed upper body. Her shirt had been torn because of him.
"I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to..." Dominique hesitated when he realized what he had done. "I was not in my right mind–" He gazed down as he couldn’t look straight into her eyes. He felt so guilty for crossing the line between them. He was so inconsiderate of her feelings.
He thought that getting intimately involved with her might be an insult to her since he was a married man. He didn’t think of the consequences of his selfish actions. Athena also had a reputation to protect.
However, Athena misinterpreted his intentions. "So... you’re just like all the other men who only seek to satisfy their lust," she mocked, her words laced with disdain and disbelief.
"Just leave, Mr. Smith! Get out of my house this instant!" Athena yelled in frustration, her voice tinged with anger and exasperation.
She was disappointed. She thought Dominique would already grab the chance to have a secret relationship with her since she had already spelled it out in front of his face. She thought he would say yes and make it official by giving her privileges in exchange for being his woman.
Who would have thought Dominique would be hesitant to accept her indecent proposal? To keep her pride, Athena had no choice but to kick him out of her house.
Dominique could only obey her as he rose from his seat, making his way towards the entrance door. With a heavy heart, he left Athena’s penthouse.
’Damn it! I’m an asshole!’ He cursed himself, his fist colliding with the steering wheel in frustration. His mind was in a great mess. He didn’t know what he should do. He needed someone to talk to. Eventually, Ashton came to mind.
Without intending to return home, Dominique decided to visit Ashton’s residence. Battling through his headache, he drove to Ashton’s villa. Astonished, Ashton found Dominique standing at his doorstep, having received no advance notice of his friend’s visit. Luckily, Ashton hadn’t departed for work yet.
"Hey, Dom. What happened to you? You look like shit?" Ashton inquired in amusement. Dominique’s appearance was in disarray. His face was also pale, with dark circles visible under his eyes.
