Chapter 32: Jewel
Athena’s heart raced and her mind was confused, unable to comprehend the depths of Dominique’s emotions. ’Am I seeing things? Why does he look so sad?’
Dominique clenched his fists. He was usually composed and confident. But in that brief moment, Athena witnessed his vulnerability.
Without saying a word, Dominique quickly turned around, walking out of the place. Athena’s presence put his emotions into chaos once again. Before he could lose control, Dominique immediately distanced himself from her.
Dominique had already disappeared from her sight yet Athena’s gaze still lingered on the glass door. It did not take long before Lanny entered the store, dashing in her direction.
"Athena, are you alright? What happened? I saw Dominique storming out of the place." Lanny asked Athena curiously.
"I don’t know. He just left without saying a word. Anyway, where is Aaron?" Athena searched for her son.
"Don’t worry. He is in the car. Dominique didn’t see him." Lanny reassured her.
Athena heaved a sigh of relief. "Honestly, this is a mistake on my part. We shouldn’t have brought Aaron here. I didn’t anticipate Dominique would still come here."
"Hmmm. That’s weird. Perhaps it became his habit to go here. Or today is just a coincidence? So don’t blame yourself." Lanny consoled her.
Athena was still bothered by Dominique’s strange behavior. Some things didn’t make sense and she couldn’t help but wonder.
