Chapter 18: A Room of His Own
Once again, Shiao Yi was picked up and carried.
Just like before, he was taken straight into a room. And just like before, he felt all the surprised looks and heavy stares from people around him.
Was he supposed to be used to it by now? Get real—how could anyone get used to this?
Even though it was already late at night—probably because of the recent magical beast attack—the fortress was still buzzing with people who are moving around and talking. It hadn’t settled down at all.
But that didn’t matter to the captain. Without caring about what was happening outside, he brought Shiao Yi straight into his own room.
Brought him into his own room...
That sounded bad. It wasn’t a pleasant way to put it, but honestly, that’s exactly how it felt to Shiao Yi.
What was this guy even thinking?
"How’s your injury? Let me see it," Dominic said as he gently placed Shiao Yi down on a firm sofa.
As expected, the captain’s room was spacious. It had a large bed, a table, and other well-kept furniture. The style was simple and practical—but for a room in a frontline fortress, it was surprisingly luxurious.
Shiao Yi preferred the plain, no-frills look anyway. Maybe it was because he was used to it.
