I didn’t want to appear in gym class like this. I wanted to text William to tell the coach that I was sick, but I couldn’t even reach for my phone, when Kieran dragged my stumbling fork inside.
The moment the gym doors swung open, every conversation died.
Thirty pairs of eyes locked onto us, silence stretched like a rubber band about to snap.
Shame breathing, tenth form: I want to die!!!
This was me being forced into the infinite castle of embarrassment.
Kieran’s jersey hung loose on my frame, his name blazing like a neon sign.
