Chapter 111
"According to our contract..." Madeline repeated Lance’s last sentence. Her heart turned cold instantly because of those words, because now she realized what kind of priority Lance had. "I see..."
Madeline hopped off the desk and stood in front of Lance. "That’s right, Sir. It’s all according to our contract. You want me to be your contractual girlfriend and make me globally infamous for your unknown plan that you don’t want to tell me about," Madeline said. "You are doing a great job, Mr. Grant."
Madeline’s last sentence stabbed his heart. Lance took a deep breath to calm down. He had never been so stimulated before, but Madeline could draw many emotions out of him, so he had to keep reminding himself not to act out using his emotions rather than logic.
"I apologize for all the hate comments you got," Lance said. "But business is business. You’re portraying a villainess in that reality show, and you did it well."
"Hate comments don’t really shock me, honestly," Madeline shrugged. She walked to the sofa and sat on it, crossing her legs leisurely as she stared at Lance. "So you don’t need to apologize for it. I agreed to be globally hated the moment I signed that contract."
Madeline said it lightly, but at the same time, Lance could sense that his choice hurt her. So he kept apologizing, even though it was not something he would usually do.
"I’m sorry, Madeline," Lance repeated. "This is business, and I need to profit from that reality show."
"Strange, Valerie said the money invested in that reality show is just pocket money for you." Madeline chuckled. "I mean, I guess even for businessmen, pocket money is important, right?"
Lance gritted his teeth as Madeline kept refuting his apologies with cold, hard facts that shut him up instantly.
Madeline also knew that Lance was still a businessman at his roots. What he cared the most was about making money, and everything around him was nothing but a profit waiting to be utilized.
