Chapter 77
Valerie drank her Whiskey Sour in one gulp and then wore her glasses again. "We can finish our transaction after you get eliminated. I hope you’re true to your words, Madeline."
"No, I hope YOU are true to your words," Madeline smirked. "One million dollars is not small for me."
"Yeah, yeah, that’s just pocket money for me," Valerie said, before she turned her back and walked away.
Madeline stayed at the bar, stirring her drink. She glanced at the bartender, who had listened the whole time. "You know how to keep quiet, right?"
The bartender jolted, "Y—Yes, Miss. I won’t tell anyone."
"Good," Madeline smiled. "Sometimes you have to strike that kind of deal to get the best outcome, right?"
The bartender didn’t dare to say anything. He just busied himself by cleaning the glasses. His boss had told him not to comment on anything because they had just gotten a new investor to expand the resort.
Madeline stared at her drink and murmured, "It makes me wonder what kind of expression you will make when we meet again, Lance."

Valerie returned to her private bungalow.
She threw herself on the sofa and rolled her eyes when she saw the caller ID on her phone.
She finally answered the call from Lance, who had been bombarding her phone with non-stop calls ever since she hung up on him before she made a deal with Madeline.
