Chapter 359: Confusion And Familiarity
Leonardo couldn’t fall asleep no matter how drunk he got. Whenever he closed his eyes, all he could think of was the past that he tried hard to ignore.
Has she returned yet?
He went to her room; she was not there. He searched the house for Angelina. He couldn’t rest. He almost called Angelina but he remembered what Minerva said.
Angelina cannot misunderstand that he was jealous.
He decided to go back to bed but on the way to his room, he saw Minerva’s room. He knocked on the door.
"Minerva?"
He asked gently as he didn’t want to wake her up if she was asleep. Even if he was mad at her for ruining his peace, he subconsciously didn’t want to ruin her peace.
There was no answer from inside. He tried to open the door and the door was unlocked. He swayed the door open after knocking it once more to have a peek inside. The bed was empty and the room was dark.
Leonardo figured out that she must be sleeping in Ziya’s room. He didn’t want to talk to her anymore and wandered off to the kitchen. The house was empty. There was no noise inside the house and it made him feel empty.
In that loud silence of the night, his mind thought of various things.
He never thought about how big their house was. In the mornings the halls and hallways were always filled with laughter and the lively voice of people. These past few months, he got used to the unfiltered laugh of his niece. The silence was scary. He was in one of the dining rooms that the family uses and even if he screamed from here, his father wouldn’t hear him.
Was this place always this scary at night?
