Chapter 120: Leander’s Plan
After lunch, Leander brought her for a walk outside. This was the first time she had a chance to look around his house and she looked around with awe. She always thought that having more money than needed is not going to give anything worthwhile.
She thought wrong. Money can buy an awful lot of good things. The pavement, the patio, the garden, and even the outdoor lamps looked different than the ones she was used to.
She saw a big tree that she would see from the big window in her room. From another angle, she could see that one of the branches was so perfect for a swing.
"You can hang a swing here..." she told him. "Kids would love that. And you can make a doll house... that tree would be perfect for a tree house..."
Leander stared at her back as she walked to the front. It seemed like a seemingly innocuous sentence. But there was so much behind that.
When she looks at this place and thinks of ways to fill it up, her thought goes to children. She is talking about swings and parks for his children—the children she will never be able to have. That means, she is talking about a future where she won’t be alive.
After everything she said about wanting the end of his family, here she is... talking about his children. Why is she this way?
It hurt.
His phone vibrated. He picked it up and checked. It was his grandfather. He stared at his phone until the call ended. He then put it back in his pocket after turning off the vibration. He did not want to talk to his grandfather now. He needs to prepare his heart to stand in front of his grandfather with the same sense of loyalty as before.
This woman ruined everything for him. He was blissfully oblivious to everything and now...
Watching her back, he imagined a day without her. She’d be gone from his life and he’ll be... It was a scary thought. One that made his heart squeeze in pain.
His phone vibrated again. And again. He gave up and answered his phone.
