Chapter 114: A Deal
Leander was not surprised that his statement did not affect her much. She had thought about it all. He got curious to know her plan.
"Yeah, you can," she nodded, and her lips curled into a smirk. "But you won’t."
"Why?" he crossed his legs.
The tiredness and the annoyance he felt just some minutes ago melted away like mist in the presence of sunlight. He was invigorated. This one is full of surprises. He thought she might still be curled up crying, but here she is... back to challenge him.
"Again, you made ME your wife. YOU married ME even against your grandfather’s wishes, almost humiliating him in the process. You are keeping my infertility from him. Your pride won’t let this marriage fail... at least not in front of others. It is the reason..." she bit her lips. "It is at least one of the reasons you didn’t kill me yesterday. But behind closed doors, you will hurt me."
She touched the back of her head and gulped. He could say that she is still hurting.
Leander sighed. How can she be right and wrong at the same time?
She is right that he cannot kill her. But she is wrong to think that he willingly can hurt her and watch her tear up. He looked at her as he had a feeling that she hasn’t finished yet.
"And so, I’ve decided to be your wife..."
Leander’s heart skipped a beat. His mind immediately went to the image of the couple he saw on the beach—the old couple. Can they grow old together like them?
But she had her way to topple his house of cards.
"...in front of others," she added.
