Chapter 59: Leander’s Plan
Evander tried to push Leander away as Leander signed his name. But as if he was a tree with strong roots that can withstand even a hurricane, Leander stood unmoving and finished signing his name in the field of the groom.
"Evander!" Peter called him in a warning tone.
Viviana turned to look at Peter and he was glaring at Evander. Viola who was equally shocked, pulled Evander back fearing to anger the don further.
"C*nt!" Viola mouthed at Viviana.
Viviana turned away. Whatever that is going on here, she in no way is responsible. Why should she accept the blame?
Viviana noticed that the name of the groom was not filled in yet. Her heart skipped a beat wondering if it is not over yet. Evander was still struggling, and Peter ordered him to stand still with his eyes.
She didn’t think Evander understood him as he tried to lunge. She quietly stood closer to Leander.
At that moment, in that place, she found Leander to be the safest person.
She still couldn’t understand what was going on there. For others, it might look like the brothers are fighting for a woman. But she knew for sure that the reality is entirely different. The brothers are not getting along. And it is not her fault, well, not in the way others might think.
The crack in the relationship between Leander and Evander was inevitable after what she did to Evander. After all, Peter is not going to live long, and the don seat must be very tempting. The low-level members were most loyal to Leander and Evander the weak man won’t get the loyalty Leander has. That will multiply Evander’s insecurities, and there will be war between the brothers.
She had no proof that Leander wanted to usurp his brother. She still doesn’t. Leander is one of that loyal-to-the-core, love-to-be-free sort of guy. He’s someone who thinks leadership is a heavy crown to wear and not a status symbol. He would like to stay a step behind—as a protector. Even if everyone wants him to be the leader he was born to be, he won’t take on the role of a leader.
But he would have been pulled to a war because of his insecure brother. That was her plan. And it is working out.
