Chapter 17: Gathering His Thoughts
Leander didn’t like the silly grin on Nathaniel’s face. She is yellow and he does not care about that and stares at her. He lost patience.
"Is she jaundiced?" Leander asked trying to make Nathaniel.
"Yeah... It should be the medications. I’ll change it. It’s nothing to be worried about," Nathaniel smiled at her and stood up. "Are you feeling any pain anywhere or...?"
He checked the urine bag.
"No, just my chest and back. My back stings," Viviana said.
"Oh, there were some cuts. You were given the kiss of life after you drowned in the river and Leander didn’t notice the broken glass pieces on the riverbank when he gave you CPR. He did save you in the nick of time..." the doctor continued as he removed the catheter.
Viviana tried hard not to look at Leander. She didn’t know why Leander went through the struggle to save her life.
"I’ll stop these medications for now. Tell me if you have pain. I’ll hook you on some other painkiller. And anabolic steroids... Maybe..." Nathaniel started mumbling to himself, mostly thinking out loud.
Viviana didn’t care to listen to him. He is a doctor, and he knows what he is doing. For some reason, Leander is keeping her alive. Even the clothes covering her looked like they belonged to Leander. It confused her.
But whatever the reason is, she decided to go through with whatever he puts her through if she can’t find a way to escape.
Speaking of which... I injured him, didn’t I?
She instinctively looked at Leander and when her eyes met with his, she quickly bowed her head. She, in all her twenty-eight years alive on this planet, never hurt anyone; not even a fly or an ant. This was the first time she drew blood. And that too she hurt people—living, breathing people, scum as they might be, they still can feel pain and she caused them to hurt.
