Chapter 90: Ice prison
The impact with the wall had left Davi’s body screaming, every muscle burned as if laced with fire, and even the simple act of standing demanded Herculean effort.
A metallic tang filled his mouth, and he spat a trickle of blood onto the cold stone beneath him. His fists clenched, knuckles whitening as he fought against the creeping darkness at the edges of his vision.
Stay awake. Just a little longer.
His mind and body were dangerously close to its limits, but he had done it. Things definitely didn’t go as he expected, but he was inside the temple.
Looking around, he could see many depictions of epic battles carved into the walls. They told the story of a lone beast warrior confronting an entire army.
And being there, he could breathe in fresh, crisp air. There was something comforting about being so close to the beasts’ homeland.
Besides, he could clearly sense the path to his destiny. Somewhere ahead, a corridor stretched into the shadows, veering to the right. Beyond it, a long, winding staircase would lead him to the land of the ice beasts.
Unfortunately, he didn’t have the energy for that entire run, but he didn’t need it, after all, he was close enough. And little by little, he could feel Haru’s power approaching him and filling his body.
His tired gaze gained new life, as a confident smile spread across his face and he prepared to face the enemy before him.
Obviously, he didn’t have time to check what abilities Haru had at that moment. Still, his body knew what to activate by instinct.
So he used the <Last Stand> ability, and immediately the wounds all over his body began to close slowly, while the boy felt his power gradually recover.
