Chapter 88: A perfect creation
Davi’s devastating strike had completely destroyed the upper half of his enemy’s body. Yet, even so, when the intense light faded, the boy noticed that his enemy was slowly regenerating.
A great amount of mana was concentrating around the beast, which, somehow, had not died.
"What kind of monster is this? Could it be..." the boy murmured, as terror spread across his face.
The only explanation he could think of was that this artificial beast had been created without a core. In other words, its entire body was theoretically its core.
There were three theoretical ways to create monsters. The most common method was to use living carcasses and simply modify them, but it wouldn’t be possible to create such a powerful beast that way.
Besides, if that were the case, the monster would have definitely been defeated by the strike Davi had delivered.
The second method, also widely used, was to simply create an artificial body, similar to that of a golem. However, this required a mana core that controlled the body and kept it alive, destroying it would result in the beast’s death.
But what if the artificial monster didn’t have such an obvious weakness? What if it were possible to spread the magical circuits that kept it alive into thousands of mini-cores scattered throughout its body?
What if the monster’s very mana became a form of dispersed core?
Well, that was the theory that had drawn countless researchers to the field. However, no one had ever succeeded in achieving it.
Some promising prototypes had been developed, but that was all.
