Ling Chuxia stood up, lifted the blanket, and got out of bed. She walked into the washroom, swiftly washed up, came out, walked to the wardrobe, took off her hospital gown, and slipped into a dress that Sister Hua had brought her. Then, she casually tied her hair into a ponytail, neat and clean.
Having done all this, she picked up her handbag and slowly walked out of the ward.
It was still early, and the hospital was very quiet. Ling Chuxia didn’t want anyone to notice her; she tried to walk lightly but quickened her pace as if escaping the hospital would free her from Shi Che’s grasp.
She walked briskly and soon reached the first floor of the hospital. There was a duty nurse there, and Ling Chuxia lowered her head slightly, rushing past.
The moment she stepped out of the hospital, she couldn’t help but look up at the sky. It had been rather gray earlier, but in an instant, the sun rose from the horizon, its warm yellow light tinting the clouds, the rays emitting a gentle warmth.
But her heart was cold, already incapable of warmth.
Ling Chuxia stood still for a moment before slowly starting to walk towards the outside. She had only taken a few steps when suddenly, she heard footsteps from behind. Ling Chuxia’s heart contracted—had she been discovered so soon?
Instinctively, Ling Chuxia glanced backward. Shi Che’s tall and commanding figure was striking, and though she couldn’t clearly see the expression on his face from the distance, he was striding towards her, closing in step by step.
