Chapter 266: Grim Reaper?

The mysterious figure stood tall, its dark hooded cloak billowing behind it like a shroud of night. The intricately ancient royal designed black scythe seemed to hum with an otherworldly energy, its presence commanding attention. The figure’s face was shrouded in shadows, making it impossible to discern any features.

"Greetings, Kyle," the figure said, its voice low and distorted. "I’ve been expecting you."

Kyle’s eyes narrowed, his hand instinctively reaching for his sword. "Who are you?" he asked, his voice firm.

The figure chuckled, the sound sending shivers down Kyle’s spine. "Ah, the young are always so eager to know. Very well, I’ll indulge you. But first, tell me, Kyle, what is your past?"

Kyle’s expression remained neutral, his mind racing with strategies and countermeasures. "I don’t know what you’re talking about," he said, playing dumb.

The figure’s gaze seemed to bore into Kyle’s soul, as if searching for something. After a moment, it nodded, its hood bobbing up and down. "Very well, Kyle. I shall not press the matter...for now."

As the figure spoke, Elara’s eyes widened in surprise, her gaze fixed on the crystal ball in front of her. The feed had cut off, and she was left staring at a blank screen.

"Impossible," she whispered, her voice barely audible. She stood up, her eyes scanning the room as she walked back and forth, her mind racing with possibilities.

She stopped in front of a sealed door, her fingers dancing across the magic seals. The door swung open, revealing a vast library filled with ancient tomes and dusty scrolls. Elara’s eyes gleamed with excitement as she ran her fingers across the shelves, stopping at a particular book.

The book was bound in black leather, with a small remnant bone skull placed at the front. Elara’s eyes seemed to cloud over with fear as she opened the book, a small cut on her palm dripping blood onto the skull’s mouth.

The skull seemed to come to life, a soft gasp escaping its lips as Elara muttered some inaudible words. A dense dark fog excluded from the book, causing Elara’s body to shudder in fear.

The pages turned, revealing words written in black ink on white pages. Elara’s eyes scanned the text, her face growing paler with each passing moment.
