Chapter 447: Refusing the Deal
"Do you still want this dress?" she asked Qin Ji Mei, knowing that Qin Xiangmei was the one paying.
"I’ll take it," Qin Xiangmei took out her wallet from her bag and under Hu Li’s reddened eyes, she pulled out thirteen still-warm bills. Seeing this, not only Hu Li’s eyes reddened, but her heart ached terribly.
This was over a thousand yuan, enough to cover a year’s expenses at home, even enough to have a fat year. And here over a thousand yuan was exchanged for two shabby dresses. Was this foolish or what? Hu Li wanted to say something more, but Qin Xiangmei’s stern face and the grab of the dresses without much joy made Hu Li swallow her words.
As they left, she started berating Qin Xiangmei.
"Xiangmei, you spend too much. How could you buy these two dresses? Your sister-in-law is about to give birth, and there will be a child to raise soon."
"Can’t my brother provide?"
Qin Xiangmei retorted sharply, "Mom, haven’t I given you enough money? If I don’t wear nice clothes at the Song Family’s, I can’t even lift my head. Do you expect me to wear my sister-in-law’s old clothes when I get married?"
"But those clothes are also new," Hu Li was pained over the money, "your sister-in-law only wore them once."
"I don’t want them," Qin Xiangmei knew she was meant to live a superior life; how could she possibly wear someone else’s clothes? This money had to be spent. Without initial investment, how could there be any return?
Hu Li wanted to say more, but seeing Qin Xiangmei’s elongated face, she could only swallow all her words. However, seeing the two dresses Qin Xiangmei was carrying, her eyes widened.
