Chapter 263: The Early Bird Catches the Worm
Teacher Wang is quite shy, not a big talker, but when it comes to teaching, he is quite good. At the very least, Qin Xiangnuan feels he is much more reliable than Su Baijin. It could be that Su Baijin’s heart isn’t in it, hence the lack of effort. Previously, Qin Xiangnuan thought Su Baijin was okay, but now, compared to Teacher Wang, she realizes something – she really wasted her money with Su Baijin.
Teacher Wang first tested Qin Xiangnuan’s basic skills, and, to his surprise, found that Qin Xiangnuan’s basics were very good. She recognized a large vocabulary, and her grasp on grammar was also quite strong.
He kept nodding, saying, "Not bad."
Qin Xiangnuan gave a wry smile, "An early bird trying to catch the worm."
Teacher Wang couldn’t help but chuckle, sweeping away the initial awkwardness that had been there.
Teacher Wang quite liked this student. He was wary of those who weren’t good at studying and didn’t like to learn. But someone like Qin Jinuan, who was the ’early bird’, was someone he liked to teach. Besides, Qin Xiangnuan wasn’t too dense; as long as she got the basic grammar, learning wasn’t too difficult.
And Qin Xiangnuan found that Teacher Wang’s teaching was not the traditional ’mute English’. He didn’t just make Qin Xiangnuan memorize words – it was about being able to speak, to read out loud, and to understand. Often, it was a dialogue between the two of them, and Qin Xiangnuan really liked this teaching method.
When one likes it, the learning is that much faster.
So, within a short span of time, she felt that her English had improved at an astonishing speed.
Exams were approaching, so now she spent every day inside the system reviewing, devoting all her thoughts to her studies. Teacher Wang didn’t come every day; he came thrice a week, and for 50 yuan a month. Plus, with Qin Tongnuan not being difficult to teach, he liked coming here.
Qin Xiangnuan’s English test scores had recently improved by several places. She found that she now considered English not just a subject to be memorized, but a hobby. That’s why her results kept improving and she could understand what the teacher was saying in class.
