Chapter 13: Stealing Pancakes
Only now, no one knew that the former Qin Xiangnuan had already died, and what lived on was a soul nearly forty years old, holding a deep grudge against Hu Li’s family.
Qin Xiangnuan placed the flour she had stolen inside the cupboard, then tore a clean sheet of paper from the notebook to cover the bowl. She then entered the kitchen again to continue making noodles.
Her eldest brother’s serious illness required 30 cents to be cured, according to the doctor. At that time, 30 yuan was equivalent to thousands of dollars later. How could Hu Li spend so much money on Qin Xiangyang’s treatment? With that money, she would only spend it on her own son and daughter. What did other people’s children have to do with her? That’s why Qin Xiangyang passed away so early.
Therefore, she needed to earn money, she must save up 30 yuan to treat her elder brother.
But she had nothing, unless she stole. Even if it meant stealing, she was willing, but Hu Li was too cautious. The money was always in her hands, and she didn’t know where Hu Li hid it. Moreover, Hu Li always locked the door, and she didn’t know how to pick locks.
So, she stole some flour herself, she thought of ways to make something with it. Even if she couldn’t earn money, at the very least, she could secretly feed her brother.
She returned to the kitchen, added some firewood to the stove, and the dough in the bowl was just mixed.
She bit her tiny red lips and stood up. She took a bit of dough from the bowl and used her small hands to roll it into a pancake. Pouring some oil into it, the oil bottle was old and unclear how much was used. She then sprinkled some scallions, salt, MSG, and chili powder into the pancake. While no one had returned, she cooked a layered pancake.
