Chapter 185: The Marquess’ Disapproval

She threw another bolt of lightning, this one larger and faster than before. Aaron tried to block it with a shield of fire, but the bolt broke through, striking him near his shoulders.

He staggered back, his sword falling from his hand as he clutched his shoulder. "Ah!!!"

He could feel a searing pain, a pain that he felt in his bones. Just a brush from lightning was enough to render one paralysed. This power... He couldn’t believe his sister possessed such power.

Before he could finish, Adeline charged forward, her sword raised. Aaron managed to recover just in time, grabbing his sword and parrying her strike. Adeline’s breathing was stressed, she was struggling to keep up.

She needed to put an end to this duel before she exhausted herself entirely. She could not draw this out and tire him... That was not a tactic that would work. He had been training for longer than she had.

The two siblings clashed in the centre of the ring, their swords locked as they pushed against each other. Sparks of lightning and embers of fire flew in all directions, the air around them crackling with energy.

Aaron, being older and stronger, began to overpower her. Adeline’s arms shook as she struggled to hold her ground. But she refused to give up. With a surge of determination, she let go of her sword with one hand and placed her palm against Aaron’s chest.

Her sweaty palms could feel his racing heartbeat. Her hands were shivery. She was prepared to put an end to this duel, she could not hold out any longer.

All of this was happening in a mere second, just as her heart was racing, so was her brain. Endless possibilities played out in her mind.

She was going to use her powers again, she was prepared to strike him but she could not... She could not hurt her brother...

"Stop." She requested. She raised her head to look at him.
