Chapter 136: Sneaking Out
"Answer the question, brother. How did you find out?" She pouted and put her hands on her waist. She needed to know how so she could be even more careful next time.
Alaric didn’t think too much and told her how he found out. They were looking for their lady! A five-year-old child was hiding a map and a get away bag for who knows what purposes.
Traitors! All of them! She couldn’t believe that her maids snitched on her! To think she trusted them huhuhu. The horror! The betrayal. She was pouty for the rest of the day, her plan was ruined!
Now her brother knew everything! What was she supposed to do now? He didn’t even hide it, he told her straight to her face that he was increasing the security and she should forget any scheme that came to her mind.
She spent time with her brother and went to bed. After a busy day, she came to a conclusion. She had to be extra sneaky to get away from the mansion! She was going to those ruins no matter what!
Adeline was deep in a dreamless sleep, her body exhausted from days of planning her escape and fending off her nosy brother. She had barely closed her eyes when an ear-splitting voice tore through the silence.
"Get up!" the Goddess shouted, her voice echoing like a thunderclap in Adeline’s head.
Adeline jolted upright, her heart racing. "What the—" She started, her voice slurred with sleep. She blinked groggily, her surroundings blurring into focus. "Are you serious right now? It’s the middle of the night!"
The Goddess’s ethereal voice played over her, radiating smug energy. "First of all, good morning," She said, from her tone, it was clear that she did not give a crap about Adeline’s sleep. "It’s 5 AM. Get up! We leave in 10 minutes."
Adeline gawked at her. "We? We? You don’t have to do anything. You’re just going to watch from your comfortable cloud throne while I do all the work!"
The Goddess ignored her complaint, pointing to the satchel on the floor. "No time to waste, ruins await us. Don’t back out now. Chop-chop! And also! I do not have a cloud throne!" She a throne made of gold! Have your facts straight before attempting to insult her!
