After finishing his call, Quan Yu didn’t return to his seat. Instead, he stood under the hot pot restaurant’s modest doorway and lit a cigarette.
When Ning Guiwan looked up, she happened to see him through the glass door. He flicked the lighter’s lid shut, exhaled a slender stream of smoke, and tucked the lighter into his pocket. His every movement and pose exuded leisure, without a hint of impatience.
Quan Yu finished his cigarette and went to the cashier to pay the bill.
Lai Yang didn’t dare make him wait too long. She hurriedly finished her meal and pulled Ning Guiwan along to leave with him.
Shortly after the car started, she noticed a milk tea shop still open, which tempted her. But when she turned her head and saw her second uncle’s emotionless face, she didn’t dare ask for anything more.
