Chapter 126: Something feels off
The next morning, Cen Jin got up early. Ms. Qin was surprised to see she was already washed and dressed, and even looked at the wall clock in the living room, thinking it was broken, and asked in surprise, "It’s only 7:20, why are you up so early today?"
Normally, she would get up around eight, and leave the house between eight thirty and nine. Even on busy days recently, she would leave around eight.
Cen Jin pulled out a chair and sat down, a bright smile on her face as she took a sip of steaming soy milk. "Perhaps I slept early last night! Once I woke up, I couldn’t get back to sleep."
Ms. Qin brought over some boiled eggs, rested her hands on the table, and looked at her. "Did you find money or win the lottery? I noticed something different when you came back yesterday."
"What’s different?" Cen Jin glanced at Ms. Qin with dissatisfaction, muttering her question back, but the smile on her face didn’t fade.
"I can’t quite say, just feels like you’re as happy as a two-hundred-pound silly child. What are you so happy about?" Ms. Qin pondered for a moment, and after a while, finally came up with a more fitting description.
Upon hearing ’two-hundred-pound silly child,’ the smile on Cen Jin’s face vanished instantly, and she glared resentfully at Ms. Qin. "Can’t I be happy? Do you want to see me moping around every day?"
"Not at all."
"Then there you go." Cen Jin pouted, reached for an egg and peeled it, popped a piece into her mouth, took another sip of soy milk, and after finishing the egg, checked the time and said, "I’m off now."
"You’re just eating that little?"
"Mm, I’m full."
