Cen Jin was taken aback and instinctively looked down at her tightly clasped hands, frightening her into quickly letting them go, placing her hands behind her back, and pressing her lips together: "Well, who told you not to speak clearly, always keeping secrets every time."
"Why not ask me?"
"How could I ask about something like this? Instead, why didn’t you just say it clearly yourself? Then I wouldn’t have misunderstood!" Cen Jin retorted, still glaring at him self-righteously.
"Tell me, who did you think I was talking about when I said I liked someone?"
Faced with his question, Cen Jin lost her momentum again. She blinked guiltily, having already embarrassed herself once in front of Lu Shishu at noon today; she absolutely couldn’t embarrass herself a second time in front of Jiang Baizhou, absolutely not.
"Focus on driving; there are traffic police ahead." Cen Jin averted her gaze, forcefully shifting the topic.
Jiang Baizhou chuckled lightly and didn’t press the matter further.
After arriving at the restaurant she had designated, when the waiter came with the menu, Cen Jin asked while flipping through it, "What do you want to eat?"
"I’ve already eaten," Jiang Baizhou replied casually, thinking for a moment, "If you want me to accompany you, I can; just order what you like."
"I want the stir-fried bamboo shoots with meat and this fish, that’s all, thank you." After pleasantly placing her order, Cen Jin handed the menu back to the waiter with a sweet smile.
While waiting for the food, Cen Jin’s phone chimed with a notification; it was a WeChat message from Lu Shishu asking what happened. Cen Jin smiled and, after thinking for a moment, typed and sent a message: ’Mm, ran right into it.’
Soon, Lu Shishu replied, ’Wow, that quick? So, can I get Jiang Baizhou to treat me to a big meal now?’
