Chapter 61 - 061: Which sentence?
When Ms. Qin brought the milk to the dining table and saw Cen Jin being carried princess-style in Jiang Baizhou’s arms, she was obviously stunned. Her hand slipped, and she quickly tightened her grip on the cup to regain her senses, hurriedly placing it on the table and pulling out a chair with a smile: "Put her down, put her down, she must be heavy! You’ve worked hard, Bai Zhou."
Cen Jin was gently placed on the chair and, inexplicably, heard a hint of delight in Ms. Qin’s words, especially at "she must be heavy!" which made her question her life choices a bit. She even glanced at Ms. Qin, who was full of smiles, but found that Ms. Qin’s attention wasn’t on her at all, as she enthusiastically pushed the milk in front of Jiang Baizhou: "Have a seat and eat something. Fortunately, you’re here! I wouldn’t know what to do otherwise. Cen Jin can’t put her injured leg on the ground, and going up and down stairs every day is troublesome. I can’t carry her on my back, and I’m short-staffed at the shop, so I can’t leave either. You’ll have to take care of Cen Jin more for these few days."
"You’re too kind, Aunt Qin, it’s no trouble at all." Jiang Baizhou politely gestured to Ms. Qin, his tone gently respectful, and he couldn’t help but glance at Cen Jin, who was desperately making signals to Ms. Qin, only to be ignored. A subtle smile flashed across his eyes.
After breakfast, once all the dishes were cleared by Ms. Qin, Cen Jin and Jiang Baizhou were ready to leave. Ms. Qin gave some instructions and then watched with crescent-shaped eyes as Jiang Baizhou carried Cen Jin out the door, smiling meaningfully.
Cen Jin fastened her seatbelt and looked at Jiang Baizhou, whose face was impassive as he started the car: "Don’t take what my mom said just now to heart...."
"Which words?" Jiang Baizhou glanced at her with peripheral vision and asked indifferently.
Faced with his question, Cen Jin found herself at a loss for words, feeling inexplicably awkward. Watching his nonchalant and composed demeanor, Cen Jin pursed her lips, withdrew her gaze, and decided not to bring it up again: "It’s nothing."
During the drive, neither of them spoke until the car reached the entrance of the ’Story’ studio. Only then did Cen Jin unbuckle her seatbelt. Just as she pushed the car door open and hadn’t even put her leg down, her arm was grabbed, prompting a puzzled look back at him as he said: "Don’t move, can your leg touch the ground?"
